Marineland® Canada is home to many fascinating marine mammal species. We take our opportunity to positively impact human behaviour seriously and focus our efforts on three areas we believe will improve the health and well-being of these marine mammal species in the wild: education, conservation, and research.
As part of Marineland’s evolution, we’ve worked with internationally accredited institutions, education experts and academics specializing in marine mammals to develop an effective in-park educational presentation, and supporting materials through increased educational signage and direct contact with the employees who care for our marine mammals.
Our educational and heartwarming Trainer Talk at the King Waldorf® Stadium is aimed at accomplishing our objectives and is designed to inspire and keep the interest of young children while challenging them and their parents to be concerned about the welfare of marine mammals in the wild.
This is an important part of the education experience and encourages children to ask questions and learn more during their visit to Marineland® and when they go home as well.
Our Trainer Talk includes a variety of marine mammals in different formats based on which individual animals are participating. Our marine mammals are empowered to decide on their own whether they want to participate in each presentation, and our plans change based on which animals choose to participate before each Trainer Talk.
Marineland® is the best-positioned organization in Canada to inspire Canadians to care about the fate of the marine mammals that live in our oceans and believe our animals make good ambassadors for their species overall.
Our Trainer Talk has been designed to be compliant with recent legislation that Parliament has enacted (S-203 and C-68). In addition, we’ve developed an Education Advisory Committee composed of senior educators (teachers and principals), marine mammal experts, and members of our marine mammal care committee to oversee all of our education efforts, including the educational presentation.
